Happy Autumn, we hope you are all well.
This update is just for you because you donate to Cat Call or sponsor a Cat. Your help and support is very important to us and very much appreciated by the dear cats and kittens you enable us to help.
Below is a summary of our activity over the summer and how we put your kind support to work;

Here are a few examples of our work this summer;
Dear Maple and her five kittens were dumped in a builders tool box estimated at around 3.00 am in the morning. We found the box at 7.00am. Maple who is a gentle patient cat was so distressed she had chewed the ear off one of the kittens. We suspect her owner had been breeding from her and selling kittens, but Maple must have got out and then had kittens, four lovely moggies rather than pure bred, so Maple and the kittens were dumped.

Maple and her kittens spent around two months with us and when ready were all homed x
Rusty kitten was found under a hedge. He was extremely nervous very likely born outside. Lorraine has been working with him, every day he is improving becoming more and more trusting. We hope at some point in the future he will be ready for homing.

Smokey came to us through our vet from the fire brigade. He was rescued from a shed fire in St Leonards. Tragically his siblings all lost their lives, his mum ran off and has not been seen since. Smokey was singed, had a burnt pad on one foot, damage to an eye and internal lung damage. Slowly slowly he is recovering. Lorraine put him in a sterile environment and treated his foot pad burn with quality manuka honey supported by weekly vet checks. He is a charming super happy little kitten and recovery well.

Pegg, an 18-month-old stray, was found in a severely traumatized and injured state, he was taken to a local vet. He had not been neutered or microchipped, and upon examination, it was discovered that he had injuries to his eye and back leg, which X-rays revealed to be fractured in two places. The vet tried to locate his owner by advertising him as a found, but no one came forward.

Unfortunately, the corporation that owns the vet practice decided Pegg could not be kept and mandated euthanasia. However, a compassionate vet refused to give up on him. She contacted various charities, including the RSPCA, in hope of finding someone who could rescue Pegg. Cat Call stepped in to save him.
Pegg is near completion of his six weeks of cage rest, and recent X-rays have confirmed that his leg is healing very well. He is thriving, purring contentedly, and taking the time he needs to recover fully. Once he is ready, Pegg will go to a loving home with experienced cat lovers who have affectionately named him Simon Pegg after the comedian.
We have been trapping strays at a colony in Hooe, neutering, spaying, micro chipping and returning.
And Saturday we managed to collect a dear torttie named Phoebe from St Margrets Road in Hastings. She appeared to be straying last summer 2023 but then disappeared, reappearing in July.
.
We took her straight to the vet because she has fleas and a severe flea allergy. She is micro chipped but the contact details are out of date with no response from the phone number. We suspect her owner was originally in temporary accommodation in St Margret’s Road and has moved away leaving Phoebe behind. We immediately started her treatment administered by our vet; A dual flea treatment, antibiotic and steroid injections, and a wormer. Phoebe is now safe in our care and improving.
And dear Winnie had a dental to remove 16 badly decayed teeth, she is now feeling much better x

Most days we gave out advice over the phone. And we loaned our chip scanners, of which we have four, eighteen times.

Our charity shop and volunteers have been doing as much as they can to raise money, as have Mia and Ashley who sell high quality items we receive online.

In August we had our AGM and followed that with our annual charity commission submission which you can study and down load as a pdf from the GOV charity commission site CLCIK here
We have had wonderful help raising money from the sale of handmade scented candles and cat nip mice on sale at the 1066 Vet Practice in Battle Road and the Pet Express pet shop in Queens Road Hastings.

And two new wonderful volunteers have joined us, Mahira who has initiated our presence on Tik Tok and Ilona who has set us up on Instagram, the aim is to share our work with an even wider audience.

Please do check us out on Tik Tok, search Cat Call Charity to see loads of new clips showing our work, cats and kittens in our care. If you follow us on Tik Tok it will massively help us to get to our goal of 1000 followers before xmas. Because 1000 followers means Tik Tok will place Ads on our videos which will give us what is called a “Passive” income stream from Tik Tok – every penny helps!
And because you love Cats here are some pictures of the dear Cats in our care this summer;
